It's no surprise that mindfulness is being embraced as a “leading edge” approach to mental health and addiction treatment. Mindfulness practice increases awareness, allowing you to pause, get perspective on your mental or emotional condition, and choose to do something helpful rather than harmful. Wouldn't you know it? There are now smartphone apps for mindfulness, such as Headspace, Stop Breathe & Think, and others, that can introduce and aid you in dipping your toe in the water.

What does the Bible say about a weak foundation?

Winds roar, rain pours, and even a flood threatens, but the home stays firm. Those who hear His words but do not put them into practice are dumb builders. They may construct the most magnificent structures, but they are built on unsteady ground. Hurricanes, tropical storms, and even a few Nor'easters are common in North Carolina, where we experience more than our fair share of severe weather. After a storm, I'm frequently perplexed as to why some homes in a community appear to be in good condition while others are almost demolished. Let's expand on Jesus' illustration of building a house.
