How do I get closer to spirituality?

I'm a mother and a wife. I'm a carpool driver. I cook, and there's a 50/50 chance that my family will eat what I create. I set a goal of exercising six days a week, but I've only been able to do it three times recently. I'm also starting a meditation teaching business. I enjoy socializing with my friends, but I don't get to do it as much as I used to. But, no matter what, I still manage to make time to be spiritual every day.

This isn't to suggest that I'm more spiritual or unique than you. I just incorporate my faith into everything I do, giving even the most boring chores significance and assisting me in my personal development. I'm always learning new things, working on forgiving myself and others, and trying to be more attentive.

Certain days are unquestionably better than others. Even my worst days might feel like a wonderful gift when I have a firmly entrenched spiritual perspective.

Reading spiritual books has become an important part of my daily meditation routine. Reading novels like Robert Holden's Holy Shift! and Marianne Williamson's A Year of Miracles inspires me every day. These books are constructed with the intention of allowing the reader to read one page per day in order to avoid becoming overwhelmed by commitment. It's incredible how motivated you may feel after reading just one page of truly profound literature.

3. Develop a sense of gratitude

Increasing your thankfulness is a major changer in your life. I am convinced that the more thankfulness you express, the more things you will have to be grateful for from the Universe.

There's a distinction to be made between your ego and your soul. Your ego is your social mask and picture of yourself, whereas your soul is who you truly are beneath all the labels and titles. It is eternal, heavenly, and intrinsically valuable.

Life seems to flow more effortlessly and taking action is less of a challenge when you learn to align more with your spirit each day.

You feel more liberated, joyful, satisfied, empowered, and at peace with yourself. Even when things don't go as planned, you sincerely love and accept yourself.

Unfortunately, we're not taught how to align with our soul, and it can take a little patience to find our way to this area of safety and strength within us after years of being governed by our ego's fears, worries, and incessant chatter.

Here are ten ways to reconnect with your spirit. Making time for one or two of these once or twice a week can make a huge difference in your happiness, well-being, and life.

Spend time in nature.

Nature has a calming impact on us and encourages us to slow down, take deep breaths, and enjoy the moment. Go for a walk in the woods, a run on the beach, a picnic in the park, or some stretches by the water.

Write a soul journal.

It's similar to keeping a standard diary, however you'll delve deeper. You ask your soul questions such as: “How can I get out of this?” in addition “What's holding me back from reaching my goals?” Then, without any self-censoring, you write down your immediate thoughts and feelings to observe what inner wisdom emerges.

Schedule solo dates.

It could be as basic as changing your commute or as grand as planning a vacation around the world. In either case, breaking up your routine and seeing new places forces you to break out from your comfort zone and old patterns. This allows you to rely more on your instincts and inner guiding.

Offer to help others.

You temporarily forget all of your ego-based cares and troubles when you give your time, energy, and love to others, and align with your true spirit, which is kind and open-hearted.

Make time to just be.

For a few moments, just sit and do nothing. Listen to the sounds around you, scan your body for feelings, and take a few deep diaphragmatic breaths. “One conscious breath in and out is a meditation,” Eckhart Tolle says.

Lose yourself in something you love.

It might be anything from dancing to cooking to writing to running to painting. When you're immersed in something you truly enjoy, your mind quiets and your soul takes over. It's a lovely, liberating sensation that we should all try to have more often.

Every ounce of squandered energy depletes your inner power. Why waste time and effort doing things inefficiently and redundantly? Control what you can so you may concentrate your energies and mental energy on the things you can't. Take a notepad with you. Divide your everyday duties into two categories: repetitive and thinking. Then, for the repetitious jobs, build processes and routines. You'll be ecstatic with the extra time and mental space you've gained.

How can I get myself to tune?

I had a sour relationship with myself throughout the most of my twenties. My inner dialogue was judgemental, critical, and negative, and I was continuously looking for outward satisfaction. I've never felt good enough or deserving. Under all the layers of shame, expectation, and anxiety that had grown up around me, I didn't even know who I was.

Many of us go through life estranged from our inner selves, searching for anything (or someone) to fill the void. We begin to feel supported, directed, and at ease as we draw our awareness deeper inside. The relationship we have with ourselves, like any other, takes time and commitment to develop.

It can take a lifetime to master cultivating a healthy relationship with oneself. Though we often speak angrily and critically to ourselves, silent encouragement and a positive attitude will benefit you more. Meditation assisted me in gaining focus and a more pleasant attitude. Fear of public speaking, fear of heights, and fear of bugs are the three most common fears among Americans. Many people, however, are terrified of death, rejection, loneliness, failure, illness, or making poor judgments. Spiritual people understand how to yield to forces beyond their control. In this way, they are similar to children in that they know how to ignore their minds and live fearlessly.

How do I know my soul calling?

Gustin compares the path of purpose-discovery to classic hero and heroine legends in which the hero sets out to find the treasure that has been hidden under their bed the entire time. They must return home to complete their journey.

This is why, according to Gustin, we must awaken and seek our purpose from inside. He suggested four different methods to begin the quest.

1. Tap into your inner ferocity. Routines, schedules, details, and mandated behaviors confine us every day. Moving beyond the commonplace can be life-giving when it comes to waking your purpose.

“Let your imagination run wild,” Gustin advises. “Get free of your life's routines and limitations.”

We can begin to let our genuine selves to emerge simply by choosing to be uncomfortable and allowing our inner “wildness” to grow.

2. Ask yourself, “What is my purpose?” on a regular basis. Spend time every day thinking about this crucial question: “What is my purpose?”

Consider this question in a natural setting. Take some time to go outside and enjoy the scenery.

“…untamed environment has been one of the finest mirrors of your spirit for millennia,” Gustin explains. Explore the world around you by going off the beaten road, trying new things, and going off the beaten path.

Set aside daily reflection time for yourself, as well as time that you will spend outside of your normal routine.

3. Hang around with “outlaws.” Find intriguing and thought-provoking people who are outside of your own expertise, whatever “wild” means to you. Find people who have actively rejected to live a life with a default purpose and are looking for new ways to think about and understand the world.

“If you just hang out with folks in your specialty,” Gustin argues, “they will unwittingly reinforce your status quo, therefore helping you rigidify your current way of being.”

4. Seek professional advice. “Having a guide who has travelled much of that region already is useful when entering into uncharted territory,” Gustin says.

Material possessions don't matter much to you

While you certainly have a few prized goods, you don't equate happiness with money or possessions.

Rather of pursuing wealth, you simply aspire to have enough money to fulfill your basic necessities, plus a little extra for savings or emergencies.

Rather than upgrading technology on a regular basis or remodeling your home on the spur of the moment, you're more inclined to keep items for as long as they endure.

Keeping up with current fashion trends may not be important to you since you value intangibles such as knowledge, compassion, and peace.

You focus on meaningful connections

Small social circles are common among old souls and other sensitive folks. Your circle of friends could be made up of people of all ages, from various backgrounds and life experiences.

Old souls are known for their keen intuition, so you might have a flair for predicting who will make a good companion.

You probably found it difficult to relate to individuals your own age as a child and were more drawn to persons older than you. You may have wished for greater substance in your interactions, but your classmates may have thought you were awkward or stuck-up. Maybe you've even been teased.

You may not have had much time for play if you had a challenging home environment, especially if you had to take on a more mature position in your household.

This would have made finding common ground with peers even more challenging, so you probably learnt to value relationships with people who seemed to understand you.

You need a lot of time alone

People with older souls are more sensitive to other people's emotions and the environment. Higher sensitivity often implies you'll need more alone time to recover from the constant assault of emotions.

Generally speaking, you like to observe rather than interact. When school or job necessitates group engagement, you might position yourself on the periphery to avoid being overwhelmed by other people's noise — both the audible and emotional “noise” you absorb.

You have lots of leisure for artistic endeavors, daydreaming, and quiet reflection.

Many elderly people are voracious readers. You might find that stories from other locations and times appeal to you the most, to the point where you can nearly see yourself as a participant in them.

Others may perceive you as aloof, distracted, or out of touch with reality.

You have high empathy

The ability to think about and feel what others are going through can give you a sense of maturity and gravity. At the same hand, being aware of other people's grief can place a burden on your shoulders that can be difficult to shift.

Increased sensitivity might make conflict more difficult to resolve, making you want to isolate yourself and spend time in nature or other serene, quiet locations.

You spend a lot of time thinking about how to make a difference

Old souls are more likely to consider in terms of the big picture than than the intricacies. You realize you won't be able to alter the world on your own, so you concentrate on making improvements where you can.

Your drive to help others can make the more transient aspects of life appear less essential.

In other words, you float along, mostly untouched by the ups and downs of daily life.

You have a strong emotional bond with individuals you hold dear and may feel compelled to help them overcome difficulties.

So that your loved ones continue to seek your assistance, your intuition may lead you to share wisdom or beneficial problem-solving solutions.

People with aged souls are also more sensitive to the subtleties of human conduct. You may be more prone to believe in people' inherent worth and acknowledge their ability to change, regardless of their decisions.
