And while that is certainly significant, I wanted to highlight why tonight is shaping up to be one of the most powerful energies we've ever experienced, as well as how you may make the most of tonight's moon magic.

It will allow us to express our true selves, particularly when it comes to what makes us happy. Even if you're not a big fan of full moons, know that the moon as it is tonight will help you to let go of the things, places, people, and situations that don't make you happy and move on into the new year surrounded by the things that fill your heart.

You may have awoken emotionally charged this morning, with every thought or worry exaggerated.

That's something I'm sure I did.

There's that familiar sense of unease and anxiousness.

But have faith in the understanding that these feelings are surfacing for a reason, and that reason will be revealed tonight under the Full Moon.

How to release emotions under the Full Moon

To begin, center yourself by sitting in a clean, comfortable area — having mounds of laundry around you will do little to help you avoid negative energy.

Close your eyes and concentrate on your breathing.

If you like, light a candle and play some soothing music (I prefer to listen to The Honest Guys when I'm doing this).

Take a piece of paper (not your notebook – you'll see why later) and make a list of things you wish to let go of in your life once you're quiet and comfortable.

What limiting beliefs do you have that no longer serve you?

What thoughts and problems do you have in your head that prevent you from progressing on a daily basis?

What's keeping you from loving yourself to the fullest extent possible?

What is it that is causing you to doubt yourself?

What are some of your internal beliefs that you'd like to let go of?

This list can be as lengthy or as short as necessary.

This Full Wolf Moon, for me, is about letting go of a lot of things, most notably the story I've been telling myself that I'm not good enough to welcome love into my life.

That was a difficult sentence to write.

Writing anything like that on a public stage is extremely vulnerable, especially when your goal is to help others realize how unique and strong they are.

However, every human has limiting ideas that prevent them from flourishing, which is why I believe rituals like these are so crucial.

Even if you don't consider yourself extremely spiritual.

The goal is to let go of all those exhausting and unpleasant feelings that are bubbling up right now. We may sweep things under the rug or move on with a brave front, never truly allowing ourselves to lean into how we're feeling. With it comes energetic obstacles, which stifle your ability to materialize freely and readily.

Take a deep breath and light a corner of the list, if feasible, and watch it burn.

If this isn't possible, rip it into little fragments until it's no longer understandable. After that, wash your hands in water and feel the release of energy.

How do you wish someone on a full moon?

Is it really unexpected that, in these uncertain times, more people are turning to spiritual activities for comfort and reassurance? Many of us are anxious to believe in the power of crystals, colored light, vibrations, and tea leaves — or to send our most ardent wishes to the moon — after nearly a year of anticipating the unexpected.

Moon wishing is, in fact, one of the most popular confinement activities. The concept is straightforward: you write a wish on a piece of paper, read it aloud, visualize it happening, and then ask the moon to grant it. It's similar to making a New Year's resolve, except instead of relying purely on your own willpower, you enlist the help of the universe's powers — via the moon — to help you out.

The moon is thought to function as a sort of ‘help desk,' delivering wishes to the universe.

Is it good to meditate on a full moon?

Another hypothesis is that the full moon releases a large amount of positive ions into the atmosphere. An excess of positive ions has a detrimental influence on health, creating increased stress, decreased blood flow, and less oxygen circulating through the organs and tissues, as many of you may have learnt from my piece on grounding. The body is healthier and more balanced when there are more negative ions, which is the situation with the new moon.

From a spiritual standpoint, subconscious impressions/thoughts can have an impact on the mind (feelings, emotions, and desires). The full moon is considered to increase mental activity by enhancing aware thoughts while also drawing sub-conscious ones to the forefront. This can help to awaken one's spirituality, therefore participating in a full moon meditation is especially good. Keep in mind that depending on when you were born, the lunar phases and sign placements might have a varied effect on each individual. This could explain why it's been difficult to make any scientific findings about the moon's effect because of the wide range of personal differences.

The moon gives us an extra injection of intention-setting energy every month. Why not hone it by focusing on one or two specific goals that you're extremely enthusiastic about?

Spend some time crafting intentions that are as clear, succinct, and explicit as possible. Consider the following: “Find a new job that gives me satisfaction and pays more than the one I have now.” Alternatively: “I'm going to pass the bar test on my next attempt.” These goals are specific and well-defined. They'll not only let the rest of the world know about your goals, but they'll also keep you focused on what you actually want.
