What Is Spiritual Technology

Spiritual technologies, in contrast to mechanical or digital gadgets, are cultural activities that are repeated over time to affect a person's mind, body, or spirit. They are created and nurtured with the specific goal of connecting individuals to one another and their surroundings. Everything is transformed, linked, and extended as a result of the process. Cultures all around the world construct embodied repertoires of performance to rethink self and collective in order to create new realities, from throat singing to yogic chant to house music's origins to Afrobeat's throbbing rhythms.

The STP aims to broaden people's perspectives on technology, in part to acknowledge the significant contributions traditional cultures have contributed to (post-)modernity. This is a very unique language. Any instrument – object, process, system, or practice – is considered technology, not just an electrically powered or computer-based machine. With communities of color frequently perceived as “behind” and traditional cultural practices as “old” (as opposed to “modern” or “present”), declaring oppressed communities as having produced and owning spiritual technologies is a significant political statement.

We hope that by addressing key questions concerning the role of traditional cultural practice in modern campaigns for justice and adding to the corpus of literature on the confluence of performance and politics, our project will help the greater domains of arts, culture, and social justice.

Can technology enhance spirituality in what way s?

In the West, a movement known as SBNR (spiritual but not religious) is gaining traction. There are numerous prominent spiritual movements that offer a wide range of practices. The majority of them believe that humans must pursue a specific path in order to discover their actual divine essence, which cannot be discovered by devoting one's life to egoistic pursuits such as prestige, career, or living a hedonistic lifestyle. Many spiritual movements strive to guide our bodies, emotions, and thought processes toward a state of being in which we can achieve this true state of being. Obviously, technology has always played an important part in disseminating and facilitating spiritual messages, but it appears that technology is now being used more and more directly in concerns concerning the body, emotions, and thought patterns. When it comes to spirituality and technology, the goal is to better or enrich these parts of life. For example, meditation applications try to make it easier to meditate or shift thought patterns. One of the most recent advancements is the use of virtual reality (VR) programs to create transforming spiritual experiences. As a result, the question arises as to whether technology can also help these movements achieve their more fundamental goals and follow the route they propose.

Some of our time's most renowned spiritual teachers, such as Deepak Chopra and Eckhart Tolle, don't focus on our circumstances, such as sicknesses, infirmities, limits, poverty, emotional difficulties, or limiting thinking habits.

Internal (your domestic policy)—how you deal with yourself, how you nurture the relationship with yourself and your higher self—and external (your foreign policy)—how you relate, support, and interact with those people (and all living entities) in your environment—are the two categories of relationships.
