What Is Spiritual Orientation

If you've met or spoken with me, you'll know that one of the first things I say about myself as a wedding officiant is that I'm spiritual. I'm not really “religious.” I have nothing against religion because I understand that how religion is performed is entirely dependant on the individual's heart and thinking. However, religion as a whole fosters dogma, which is not my cup of tea. So let's simply accept the label “spiritually oriented” and move on.

The majority of you are spiritual as well. For whatever reason, religion and church have turned you off. Perhaps this is how progress, or evolution, works.

What Does Spiritually-Oriented Mean?

Being spiritually oriented entails taking a broader view of life. It indicates that what is happening outside of us has an intrinsic relationship with what is happening inside of us, rather than the other way around. We explore beyond the physical to the spiritual underpinnings of what is happening within and around us.

Spirituality can be based on any doctrine or belief system, but it is not required. Knowing oneself as a spiritual entity, on the other hand, entails feeling connected to something larger than oneself.

The majority of spiritually inclined people seek purpose in their lives.

Religion defined

Form, dogma or doctrine, prescribed practices, and devotion to the demands of an authority figure are all part of religion. Religion is systematic, which takes the guessing out of finding solutions for certain people. “Says a priest, minister, or teacher,” says the priest, minister, or teacher “This is the solution. Take it and leave it alone.” There will be no grey-painting or wrangling with alternatives.

If I were to go over all of the reasons why so many of us profess to being spiritually inclined, yet felt a little of tension creep into the conversation if I did, “If the subject of “religion” comes up, I'm going to write a book. (Perhaps I'll do that later.)

What do you mean by spiritual orientation?

Spirituality is defined as maintaining a good outlook, thinking beyond the obvious, and experiencing inner serenity.

What are the 3 elements of spirituality?

In their eternal wisdom, all shamans, healers, sages, and wisdom keepers of all centuries, continents, and peoples claim that human spirituality is made up of three aspects: connections, values, and life purpose. These three components are so strongly linked that it may be difficult to tell them apart. Take a minute to ponder on each facet of human spirituality to determine the state of your spiritual well-being if this is possible. This will be a three-part monthly series, starting with relationships.

Internal (your domestic policy)—how you deal with yourself, how you nurture the relationship with yourself and your higher self—and external (your foreign policy)—how you relate, support, and interact with those people (and all living entities) in your environment—are the two categories of relationships.

What criteria would you use to assess your internal relationship, and what steps could you take to improve it?

How would you assess your external relationships, shifting from the perspective of domestic policy to international policy?

Spirituality is also a technique of dealing with day-to-day problems and connecting with something greater than yourself.

Spirituality can mean various things to different people. Spirituality, for some, is linked to religion and perhaps a higher force. Others may find it in non-religious activities such as connecting with nature, art, yoga, meditation, and so on.

How do I find my spiritual path?

For many people, finding their spiritual path is best accomplished with the assistance of someone who is more enlightened than they are. With the guidance of a professional psychic, many people have been able to properly decide their spiritual path. Speaking with a psychic may also help you gain a greater understanding of specific events and situations in your life, allowing you to watch things unfold for their intended purposes. Because meditation allows you to become more at one with yourself, it is an excellent tool for determining your spiritual path. Meditating will assist you in better controlling your thoughts and feelings, as well as gaining a deeper understanding of yourself, allowing you to connect with your true self.

Seeking for your higher self via strategies like those outlined above will help you identify your spiritual path in life. It will be easier for you to discern and follow your path once you begin to grasp that you have a higher self and what it represents.

How do you recognize a spiritual person?

The first evidence of a spiritual person is their lack of fear. When you have a fear or a chronic worry, that fear takes over your life and you are unable to be in the present moment. Fear of public speaking, fear of heights, and fear of bugs are the three most common fears among Americans. Many people, however, are terrified of death, rejection, loneliness, failure, illness, or making poor judgments. Spiritual people understand how to yield to forces beyond their control. In this way, they are similar to children in that they know how to ignore their minds and live fearlessly.

What are the 4 elements of spirituality?

Air, earth, fire, and water are the four basic elements (sometimes known as “temperments”). Understanding what each aspect stands for allows us to assess our own personal strengths and limitations. When it comes to determining the appropriate course of treatment for our difficulties, healers have discovered that focusing on the components can be quite useful.

  • Air is associated with intellect, mental intent, and a connection to the universal life energy.
  • Grounding, the base of life, substance, connection to one's life path, and family origins are all represented by Earth.
  • Fire is a symbol of energy, a transformational instrument, a link to personal power, and inner fortitude.

Within our surroundings, we are surrounded by the four classical elements (air, earth, fire, and water). The wind in our skies, terra firma, warmth from the sun's rays, and a great array of freshwater resources all represent them (seas, rivers, lakes, creeks, and ponds).

There are many healing systems and faiths that use the elements in their rituals. The Tarot's four suits reflect the four elements. Native Americans recognized the four elements through the medicine wheel. The classical elements are honored by Wiccans, who add a fifth element to represent the spirit or self.

When I'm in need of re-energizing, I go toward watery sources. Personal favorites are relaxing soaks in the tub, walking in the rain, and skinny dipping in the surf. Water has always held a spiritual significance for me, and I assumed this was true for everyone until a feng shui consultant I met told me that being near water was exhausting for her. She described how wood felt more supportive of her spiritual being as well as her physical well-being.
