What is the purpose of Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program?
Function. The JYSEP focuses on involving kids in a mentor position known as a “animator” to assist Junior Youth in building their moral reasoning capacity and a moral framework that strengthens their ethic of service.
What is the Jysep?
JYSEP (Junior Youth Spiritual Empowerment Program) is a global organization that encourages young people, parents, and community members to work together to make the world a better place. Over the last ten years, the program has evolved from a small group of young people to over 200 young people mentoring in Chapel Hill, Carrboro, Durham, Cary, Raleigh, and many other locations throughout the Triangle.
What is jyep?
Volunteers from the senior section (classes 9, 10, and 11) were trained to be animators for the junior youth on their own campus as part of this program (classes 6, 7 and 8). The campus JYEP teacher/coordinator assists the animators in forming a group of juniors. Volunteers from the senior section (classes 9, 10, and 11) were trained to be animators for the junior youth on their own campus as part of this program (classes 6, 7 and 8). The campus JYEP teacher/coordinator assists the animators in forming a junior youth (JY) group and facilitating the study of the JYEP books as well as the service project with the members of their groups. As they go through this process for three years, their friendships are strengthened and a group identity is developed. The animators define their jobs as “assisting their friends in the Junior section in discovering their gifts and potentials through the stories of junior youngsters like Musonda, Rose, and Kibomi.” These JYEP books are described as “exciting and intriguing stories that teach virtues such as selfless service, love, family togetherness, and hope” by the animators. The animators also help the junior youths develop their spiritual and intellectual capacities by providing them with a platform to express themselves artistically and fulfill their great sense of purpose through these stories. Aliganj Campus I, Chowk, Gomti Nagar Campuses I & II, Kanpur Road Campus, Indira Nagar Campus, Mahanagar Campus, Rajajipuram Campus I, Rajendra Nagar Campus I, and Station Road Campus have a total of roughly 1000 animators. All of these institutions will have additional skilled animators in the new academic year.
