A yoke was essentially a harness worn by oxen and other animals to make pulling a load easier. It was also used to denote servitude and the burden of carrying out a duty or purpose.
What is the spiritual meaning of yoke?
These passages share more than just the term yoke. The use of a yoke demonstrates that it is a burden that exerts influence. A yoke is influence in leadership terms (and everyone agreed after John Maxwell that “and influence is leadership, nothing more, nothing less.”) In other circumstances, such as when a police officer has influence over a criminal, such influence is quite powerful.
The word yoke carries a meaning that the one who is yoked is the one who serves another and bears their burden.
This is evident throughout the Bible. The word yoke was used in 60 Bible verses to connote slavery, servitude, or influence in familial and religious ties. In other words, “my yoke is light” could signify “my service or weight is light.”

A yoke, often called a control wheel or a control column, is a device that is used to operate some fixed-wing aircraft.
The yoke is used by the pilot to control the plane's attitude, which is normally in both pitch and roll. The ailerons and roll axis are controlled by rotating the control wheel. The elevator and pitch axis are controlled by moving the control column forward and backward. When the yoke is pulled back, the plane's nose lifts.
