Obstacle 1: Conformity
Conformity to society appears to be the norm in today's churches and among Christians. Relevance is a term coined by Christians to describe this phenomenon. However, in many cases, cultural relevance weakens the gospel. Because it is all too easy to make culture the object of our affection and affirmation rather than Christ. Love and truth will always come second to whatever our culture values.
What is your spiritual strength?
Meaning. Faith. Purpose. Transcendence. Ritual. The most important considerations. Contemplation. Meditation. Prayer. Mysticism. Religion. Nature. Holiness. Virtue. Morality. Unity. A community that is actively involved.
When individuals hear the word, these are some of the words that come to mind “It's spiritual.” And scientists have discovered common ground: any of these phrases can be matched with the widely recognized scientific definition of spirituality the search for or communion with the sacred. Each might be understood as a component of the sacred experience or as a means of discovering the sacred, whether it is inside or without us.
Our capacity to delve deep and uncover the deeper meaning in life, to connect ourselves with a purpose that transcends beyond ourselves, to find relationship and union with something greater such as nature, God, or the transcendent, is a spiritual character strength.
When seen broadly and with an open mind, this strength applies to everyone the devoutly religious, the atheist seeking purpose, the agnostic pondering life's grand scheme, and the growing number of individuals who consider themselves to be atheists “It's spiritual, not religious.”
Spirituality is also one of the character characteristics most related with living a meaningful life, according to study. It is linked to a variety of factors that contribute to a better world, including increased compassion, altruism, volunteerism, and charity.
What are examples of spiritual growth?
- Read the Bible from beginning to end. Set aside a few minutes each day to read some Bible verses. Reading the Bible in its whole is probably possible with 365 days in a year.
- Participate actively in church services. It's not enough to just show up. You must be physically, mentally, and spiritually present.
- Make it a habit to pray every day. It's enough to say a short prayer for a few minutes each day. It's something you can do every morning when you get up or before you go to bed. It will become second nature with time.
- Keeping a spiritual notebook is a good idea. It's a great place to write down your thoughts and everyday reflections. It's a great read for when you're feeling low.
- Forgiveness should be practiced. Forgiving someone who has harmed you will not only help you restore your relationships, but it will also help you grow as a person. It will also provide you with peace of mind.
- Return the favor. Donating to charity should not be limited to the Christmas and Thanksgiving seasons. Giving back should be done throughout the year. Every day, strive to be a benefit to others. Volunteering at a soup kitchen or donating your old clothes to the underprivileged are good places to start. (See also: 50 Random Acts of Kindness You Can Perform Today)
- Every day, have a conversation with God. Spend a few minutes every day alone with God. Tell him about the things you're grateful for today, as well as the things that are causing you concern. Communicate with him as if he were a buddy.
- Read books that will make you feel good. Inspirational literature, in addition to the bible, are a terrific method to find spiritual contentment.

What are the steps of spiritual transformation?
“As the universe evolves and deepens, so does our perception of God, and so does our moral development,” Rohr stated.
Rohr identified four stages of spiritual and moral development, borrowing terminology from another writer, Ken Wilber: cleaning up, growing up, waking up, and showing up.
“We mainly (mirror) the dominant culture's moral preoccupations in every era and denomination,” he remarked. “Our primarily exterior understanding of morality is superficial and reflects the values of many ‘purity codes' in our not-so-mature culture.”
Cleaning concentrates on the outside. It rarely reflects “the brightness of Jesus' moral standards, which have to do with our interior attitudes first and foremost,” Rohr added.
