The Spiritual Exercises are intended to assist those who are confronted with a significant life decision. Identifying the issue, spending time to pray about the choice, making a wholehearted decision, discussing the choice with a mentor, and lastly trusting the decision made are the seven steps of discernment to be followed.

How can I deepen my spiritual life?

We can achieve greater balance in our lives by deepening our spiritual connection. We are better able to deal with the various problems that life throws at us when we have a stronger connection to Spirit and our higher selves. We keep our center like the calm in the middle of a storm, remaining unaffected at our core despite the chaos around us. Those who do not have a connection to Spirit or their higher selves may frequently feel disoriented or distressed by events in their outer world. We know who we truly are when we align with our highest self, and we feel a sense of purpose and clarity that helps us navigate life with ease. We have the ability to continue on our life's path. Rather than choosing to be a victim, we find our strength and hope when tragedy strikes or our hearts are shattered. We appreciate life's beauty and glory while looking forward to the possibilities of our futures.

1. Make a daily Mind, Body, and Spirit workout practice a habit. Chi Gong, Tai Chi, and Yoga are all great for achieving emotional balance, increased energy flow, and physical agility. We may more easily connect to our higher selves and to source as we open up the energy channels in our bodies.

2. Take time each day to be grateful for your life and all of the benefits that have come your way. Gratitude is a higher vibrating emotion that allows us to connect with our divinity.

3. Volunteer to help someone in need, whether it's a stranger or a family member. Giving to others opens the doors to the Universe and allows us to connect with source and ourselves more deeply.

4. Meditate at least once a week. If you don't have time to do this every day, schedule time to be alone and still three to four times per week. This calm allows us to connect with our higher selves by going within. It is spiritual nourishment and essential for emotional and mental well-being. When we are at peace with ourselves, our outer world reflects that.

5. Have faith in your intuition. Intuition and physical sensations are common ways in which our higher selves and spirit guides connect with us. We can strengthen our connection to Spirit and our higher selves by paying attention to and honoring these communications.

6. Let go of all judgments, both of yourself and others. Judgment prevents us from reaching our full potential. The only energy we may receive when we evaluate ourselves or others is the same energy that matches that judgment. This means that if something better comes along, we won't be able to recognize or accept it since our judgments will prevent us from doing so.

7. Make your desires come true! Don't be frightened to go out into the world and make your dreams a reality. The Universe will assist you in achieving your goals because when we select anything, we are asking others to do the same. When we ignore our dreams, we lose touch with Spirit and our higher selves.

8. Laugh more, dance more, and enjoy life! These are all high-vibrational activities that can help you open your heart. We ARE connecting with our higher selves when we totally open our hearts. All of the best teachers recognized the importance of joy and laughter.

9. Spend as much time as possible in nature. We feel an energy flow that recharges our entire being when we spend time in a natural environment. This energy is identical to the spiritual energy. Because nature is a direct channel to Spirit, when we connect to it on a deeper level, we can connect to our higher selves.

10. Be true to yourself! So many people sacrifice who they genuinely are in order to fit into society by behaving in a'socially acceptable' manner, or they destroy themselves by being the person their husband, mother, or father expects them to be. Let go of everything and be your true self. You create an opportunity for Spirit to come through with great ease and grace when you fully step into your own potency and live your truth.

We may easily align with our higher selves and open up to having a greater connection with Spirit when we balance our body, mind, and Spirit. Our connection is unique to us, and it is unlikely to be the same as someone else's. It isn't predicated on our religious beliefs or even whether we have any at all. It's intangible and dynamic, expanding and contracting in response to our decisions and actions. We are fully connected to Spirit when we stop functioning from the anti-consciousness of this reality and start living consciously.

How do you intend to make sure that you will be able to deepen your faith and spiritual life?

Growing up, I tended to form friendships based on convenience, having fun, and supporting each other to do anything we wanted without feeling guilty. For a while, this seemed satisfying, but I was privately lonely, insecure, and ashamed of how I was living. I was in desperate need of a change.

Though I wasn't looking for faith or God at the time, the friendships I began to form with those who did helped me see something I wasn't seeing elsewhere in my life: hope.

15 David learnt that Saul had come out to kill him when he was in Horesh in the Ziph Desert. 16 And Jonathan, Saul's son, went to David at Horesh and assisted him in finding strength in God. 17 He said, “Don't be terrified.” “My father, Saul, will not touch you.” You will be the king of Israel, and I shall be your deputy. David's situation could not be worse when Jonathan discovers him at Horesh. David is on the run, sleeping in caverns, while the king and his army pursue him and intend to kill him. Jonathan, on the other hand, as a spiritual buddy, would not allow David to succumb to his fear or doubt. He didn't only sympathize with David's troubles; he also urged him to trust in God's plans and protection.

My friends have done the same for me by encouraging me to believe in myself in the midst of conditions in which I'd been stuck for years — drug/alcohol addiction, animosity toward my parents, and living for myself and my work at the expense of everyone else.

My friends have shown me that with God's aid, none of these obstacles are insurmountable. When I wanted to quit and give up, they kept pointing me back to prayer and God's promises in the Bible.

When I'm faced with a difficult situation, I know I can rely on these friends to support my faith. The issue I have is that I frequently forget that the assistance they provide is something I require on a daily basis, not just in emergency situations.

12 Make sure that none among you, brothers and sisters, has a wicked, unbelieving heart that turns away from the real God. 13 But encourage one another every day, as long as “Today” exists, so that none among you is hardened by sin's deception.

We need the encouragement of our friends to fight the disbelief in our hearts, according to the Bible, and we need it on a daily basis.

Spiritual friends' daily encouragement is critical to our religion for three reasons:

  • Unbelief has major ramifications. It will cause us to utterly reject God. When we are disheartened, spiritual companions may encourage us and help us overcome unbelief by referring us to the Scriptures and praying with and for us.
  • Sin is a liar and a thief. It camouflages itself; you won't always notice it on your own. Other individuals can assist us in seeing our sins and unbelief more clearly than we can on our own. Being able to recognize our sins makes it easier for us to repent and turn away from them.
  • Sin hardens over time. If we allow sin to take root in our hearts, it will harden us. This occurs in my case because I no longer want to feel bad about my sin, therefore I numb my conscience to it.

But these profound connections aren't just for us. I believe there are people in each of our lives who require the kind of friend that strengthens their trust in God, inspires them to keep fighting even when things appear bleak, and pushes them to become a better version of themselves. Our profound relationship, not our charm or persuasive words, is what makes a difference in other people's lives.

In their eternal wisdom, all shamans, healers, sages, and wisdom keepers of all centuries, continents, and peoples claim that human spirituality is made up of three aspects: connections, values, and life purpose. These three components are so strongly linked that it may be difficult to tell them apart.   • Become a member of a religious organization. According to study, those who regularly attend a house of worship are happier and healthier. This is most likely due to the social relationship. It could also be because religious organizations promote healthy living choices such as quitting smoking and drinking less.
  • Pray or meditate on your concept of God. You can use a prayer book to worship at a specified time each day. When you're in need of comfort, you can also pray from your heart. It may be very beneficial to your mood to say a prayer of appreciation.
  • Discuss your spiritual beliefs with those who hold similar beliefs and learn from each other.

How do I ask God for discernment?

Dear heavenly Father, you count our hairs and determine our days; you hang the stars and feed the birds; you open and close doors that no one can open or close. Surely, we can put our faith in you when it comes to making significant decisions, or any decisions for that matter. We're through a similar season right now, Father, and we're aware that we're not alone. For the sake of your honor, we will trust you with generous wisdom, straight roads, and quiet hearts.

We adore you for being the God of decision-making. It is your choices, not ours, that determine the outcome. We'll make plans, but we'll entrust our actions to you. We'll pray, but we'd like you to direct our prayers to heaven. We'll seek advice, but you may count on you to veto any incorrect or incomplete information from our closest friends and mentors. We'll read through the Bible, but not for proof passages, but for you, Father. All we want and need is for you to come along.

Free us from the paralysis of analysis—desiring to make the right decision more than being virtuous; desiring to be known as smart people more than knowing you. Free us from the idolatry of believing that there is just one “ideal” option in every scenario. Free us from making decisions based solely on our comfort and the approval of others, or out of fear of their condemnation. Allow us to understand that good decisions do not always result in the most straightforward outcomes, especially at first. Allow us to make decisions without second and twenty-second thoughts.

Father, we know that your will is our sanctification—our becoming more and more like Jesus—in ALL things, whether it's wisdom about purchasing or selling, vocation or vacation, this place or that place, this person or that person. Give us this zeal; make it our pleasure.

So, Father, when we trust you with the opening and closing of doors in front of us, make us more and more like Jesus. Everything we eat and drink is for your glory, as are our whatevers, whenevers, and wherevers. Amen.
