Most of us have heard these remarks from Pierre Teilhard de Chardin, a French philosopher. And there's something about this concept that resonates with most of us on a primal level.
Something deep down in our guts or hearts, possibly on an unconscious level, recognizes that we are made up of more than just the sum of our ideas, feelings, and current life situation. We have a sensation of being more than simply our small “me.” And, even if we can't fully access the knowing of it directly, the concept that we humans are vaster than our finite and individualized egos seems relieving to most of us.
I once heard a story about a 5-year-old whose mother had just given birth to a new baby. The young child insisted on spending time alone with his new sibling. When asked why he needed this time alone with the new infant, the 5-year-old said that he needed it because he was forgetting about God.
We appear to be born with an intrinsic intelligence and understanding of our limitless and spiritual nature, but our conditioning and simply living life as it happens causes us to forget who and how amazing we truly are. We shrink, and we come to believe that who we are or what we are made of is simply a resume of the roles we play, our successes and failures, the beliefs we hold, and the issues we must address.
So, what stands in the way of us discovering who we truly are? What separates us from our true spiritual and boundless nature? The full response to such inquiries is multi-layered and nuanced. But, because this is a blog article, I'll just give you the quick answer.
Thought, or more precisely, our fixation with our ideas, is the number one thing that causes us to forget our true identity as spiritual beings. We invest the majority of our life's energy and attention to our thoughts from the time we are very young. And, to be honest, the most of them are neither fascinating nor helpful.
We presume that because an idea enters our awareness, we must believe it. We presume that because we are programmed to believe that we are our thoughts, we must pay attention to every idea that arises. This, however, is a fallacious assumption.
Thoughts occur, and we can choose whether or not to trust them. We don't choose to think our thoughts; they just happen. Rather, we are the observers of our own minds. It is up to us to decide how we wish to interact with the competing notions for our attention. Because of our obsession with thoughts, we spend the most of our lives in a trance, unaware of where we are.
To put it another way, it makes us forget about our bodies. We get alienated from our senses when our attention is focused on the constant stream of thoughts we hear. This is significant because our senses are the gateway to our own presence, our fundamental being, and our spirit.
Coming into the body, feeling the breath, and the sensations that are occurring right nowthis is our portal into now, and it is only via this present instant, nowsensed directlythat we can recall ourselves as the infinite and spacious presence that we instinctively know (but forget).
What is human spirituality?
Spirituality is defined as the awareness of a feeling, sense, or belief that there is something more to being human than sensory experience, and that the greater total of which we are a part is cosmic or divine in nature. True spirituality necessitates the opening of one's heart.
What is spiritual self?
Your Spiritual Self is the most beautiful and powerful version of yourself. It's your true self, the part of you that hasn't been conditioned, the you without patterns. There's no need to get caught up in the lingo because this is a personal matter for everyone of us. During your Process, you were acquainted with this aspect of yourself, which we refer to as your Spiritual Self.
What are the characteristics of a spiritual person?
The Latin words “spiritus” (meaning breath, courage, strength, or soul) and “spirare” (meaning to breathe) are combined to get the term “spirit” (1). Meaning, worth, transcendence, connecting (with oneself, others, God/supreme power, and the environment), and becoming (life's growth and progress) are five qualities of spirituality (2).
Since the inception of spiritual health and its different definitions, it has been five decades. Spiritual health is concerned with one's relationship with one's own self (personal dimension), people (social dimension), nature (environment), and God (transcendental dimension) (3). The following are the main qualities of spiritual health: a healthy lifestyle, social connections, inquiring about the meaning and purpose of life, and transcendence (4). For many academics, spiritual health is so crucial that it is considered one of the most significant components of health (5). Spiritual health leads to improved mental health (6) and is favorably associated to physical health, for example, it may assist patients experience less pain, according to multiple research conducted on diverse patients (7).
Scientists and academics have looked at spiritual health from numerous perspectives and presented several definitions, but they have yet to come up with a comprehensive description. Providing a complete definition for spiritual health, identifying the components and markers of spiritual health, and its impact on other areas of health are all major obstacles in treating spiritual health issues. Despite the fact that a number of studies have been undertaken in Iran on the subject of spiritual health (5, 7), experts believe there are not enough studies on the definition of the term. Because of the relevance of the topic, the paucity of literature, and the necessity to include multiple perspectives on spiritual health, this study was undertaken in Iran to investigate the definition, components, and indicators of spiritual health from the perspective of specialists.
What are the spirits?
A spirit is a power that has the ability to influence people's decisions. A spirit might be an anonymous force responsible for the atmosphere at a gathering of people or the mood within a person, or it can be as personal as other people's spirits who impact our daily behaviors. It's called a spirit since it has nothing to do with matter and instead has to do with the mind, soul, and feelings. Spirits can be loving, harmless, or harmful; they can be fleeting or powerful; they can be quiet or haunting; they can aid or damage. They can take up residence in places, memories, literature, and people.
The most crucial thing to remember about spirits is that they must follow Christ's commands. We can demand a spirit to leave in the name of Christ if we feel under the control of one we don't want, because we are His people, and the devil's forces have no authority over Christians unless they cooperate. It could be as simple as speaking a single order in faith to God, or it could be a spiritual battle (Eph. 6:10-17) in which we must draw closer to God in faith and let go of attachments to fleeting values (1 Tim. 6:6-12).
Playing with the powers of the spirits is harmful because it gives the devil an easy way to irritate, mislead, and ultimately lead us astray. Rather, we should pray to God for discernment so that we might learn to recognize God's spirit, which will help us grow and become stronger in love and trust (2 Tim 1:8).
Deadly spirits make things simple at first, but when resistance is weak, they take their toll. It's similar to narcotics that promise free heaven but destroy the lives of those who trust and become dependant. The devil's spirits appear to be bright spirits, but in the end, they inflict death (Rom. 6:16-23).
God's spirit may be demanding at first, but as you collaborate with Him, He will prepare you for a life of quality and freedom, as well as develop your personality and abilities, making life easier and more fruitful. God's spirit is like a patient teacher who teaches you what is real and worthwhile (John 14:26), and the outcomes are so good that you won't be sorry you tried (Gal. 5:16-26).
Who are the seven fallen angels?
Fallen angels guard the City of Dis, which surrounds the lower circles of hell, in Dante Alighieri's Divine Comedy (13081320). They symbolize a transition: whereas prior rings penalized sinners for acts they couldn't help themselves from committing, later circles of hell are filled with sinners who purposefully rebel against God, such as fallen angels or Christian heretics.
Both obedient and fallen angels play major roles in John Milton's 17th-century epic poem Paradise Lost. They appear to be sensible persons, with a personality that is human-like. Moloch, Chemosh, Dagon, Belial, Beelzebub, and Satan himself are among the fallen angels' names, which come from both Christian and pagan mythology. According to the Christian canon, Satan persuades other angels to live outside of God's laws, and they are then driven out of heaven. The epic poem begins in hell with fallen angels. The book's initial portrayal of God is offered by fallen angels, who describe him as a dictator who is to blame for their downfall. The fallen angels, exiled from heaven, establish their own empire in the depths of hell, with Pandmonium as its capital. Unlike most earlier Christian depictions of hell, it is the fallen angels' own kingdom, rather than God's principal location for torturing sinners. The fallen angels even construct a palace, perform music, and engage in open debate. Despite this, the fallen angels themselves create hell into a place of suffering without heavenly guidance.
In Alfred de Vigny's many compositions, the concept of fallen angels is prominent. The kid of an angel and a mortal woman learns about the great deluge through the stars in Le Déluge (1823). He seeks sanctuary on Mount Ararat with his sweetheart, expecting that his angelic father will save them. However, because Christ does not show, they are swept away by the river. Éloa (1824) is a story about a female angel produced by Jesus' tears. She hears of a male angel who has been ejected from heaven, and she tries to console him, but she ends up in perdition as a result.
