Fruits of the Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit's fruits shape a Christian's character and direct their actions.

These are the fruits of a Christian who enables the Holy Spirit to fully dominate his or her life.

• Love: Because God loves all of humanity, this fruit aids us in loving others as God loves us.
• God desires for us to be joyful. This fruit makes us happy and hopeful all of the time, even in the face of adversity.
• God desires that His people be at peace at all times. This fruit promotes peace with others and provides peace for us even while we are experiencing problems.
• Patience: God desires for us to wait patiently and not give up. Even if something takes a long time to arrive, we must wait in the hope that it will.
• Kindness encourages us to be charitable and to assist those who are in need. Kindness can be demonstrated by being compassionate with others as well as by the goodness in our deeds.
• God desires for us to be good to others by assisting and delighting them.
• Trustworthiness: This helps us to keep our promises. We become more loyal as a result of it.
• God desires for us to be humble. We prevent thinking of oneself as more important than others by eating this fruit.
• Self-control: This enables us to maintain control over our emotions and actions at all times and to do what is right.

From this reading we see that:

• God desired to deliver the Israelites from the Midianites' mistreatment.
• Gideon was apprehensive about taking on the responsibility because he said he came from the weakest tribe.
• Because he was the youngest in his family, Gideon also believed he couldn't lead the Israelites.

What can Christians learn from this story?

• Instead of allowing our weaknesses to hold us back, we should always put our faith in God.
• We must obey God when He tells us to do something because He is always with us and ready to defend us.

Response of Paul to the Holy Spirit

• In Damascus, Jesus beckoned him, and he changed his ways, taking the name Paul.
• We read in Acts 16:6-10 that Paul wanted to preach in the region of Asia, but that God summoned him to Macedonia through a dream.

All of Jesus' teachings, including the Lord's Prayer, the Sermon on the Mount, and instructional parables – as well as his miraculous healing miracles – assist us in recognizing and living our own spiritual identity and following Jesus' example as Christian healers.

If we are willing to accept it, the last gift is that God created everything and it is extremely good. Sin, pain, and death are all manifestations of our ignorance of God. When we recognize that God is good all of the time and that His purpose is always good, we will begin to appreciate this gift more and more, and evil, suffering, and death will fade away, as described in the 21st Chapter of Revelation.
