  • Journaling – Journaling is a terrific exercise since it allows you to write down your negative self-talk and unleash it all on paper. Another benefit of journaling is that it allows you to capture the wisdom of your subconscious mind on paper, which you would otherwise overlook. I also keep a thankfulness diary in which I record all of the incredible benefits and miracles that occur in my life each day, as well as a gratitude list that I write every night. Journaling helps you connect with God and boosts your energy. It helps you see and think clearly by altering your cognitive processes.
  • Visit your past – isn't it something we all do? We do so with sadness and regret. Most people enjoy relating to the sorrows of the past, but that is not why or how you go back in time. To propel yourself into an affluent and fulfilled future, you must look back into your life and connect the dots. Many things do not make sense in the present, but if you travel back in time, you can solve the riddle, and vice versa. It necessitates in-depth reflection. Everything that had previously perplexed me now makes perfect sense. If I'm stumped in the present, I go back in time to find answers. In our lives, nothing happens by chance. The template for our lives is given to us at birth. You must go deep thinking and analyze everything in your life if you are perplexed. You'll be able to find all of the answers.
  • It takes a lot of courage to open your wounds when hell breaks loose. The majority of us bottle up our bad emotions and sorrow resulting from hard life experiences, which is devastating since it emerges as diseases and turmoil in our lives. You must clean your wound to heal it, and cleansing a wound is a painful process. You must cleanse yourself of all anguish, and in order to do so, you must inflict some brief agony on yourself. You'll have to confront all of those events, as well as the darkness and pain they bring. You will be in a lot of pain and cry a lot, but you will be able to let it go forever. Make peace with everything that has happened, thank God for the experience since it has helped you grow, and pray to him for the strength and courage to face it and let it go forever. You'll be able to cleanse your mind.
  • Forgive yourself – We put a lot of pressure on ourselves by punishing ourselves for our faults. I'd like to take the opportunity to change your mind about mistakes. First and foremost, you must determine whether or not you committed a mistake. How do you go about doing it? Isn't a mistake defined as an unfavorable deed, activity, or decision? So go back in time and think about the action, activity, or decision you made. Although your actions may not have yielded the desired result, you must rise above any criticism. Then look at where that action, activity, or decision has led you in your life. Has it aided you in any way in your life? Is the current outcome positive and significant, even though it did not meet your expectations? If you answered yes, you have never committed a mistake. Second, if you make a mistake, you have learned a valuable lesson. Without learning, you will not be able to develop in life. So, if you avoid making mistakes, you will not progress in life. Errors and failures are necessary for our development. But make sure you're the only one who pays for your errors, not anyone else. Last but not least, don't base your decisions on the opinions of others. You are the only one who can determine whether or not you made a mistake. Allow yourself to forgive yourself and move on.
  • Find your life's vision and purpose – A life without a vision and purpose is worthless, and you'll end up lost in a maze. The gift of vision is something that God bestows on you. God gave me the vision for the rest of my life. If you don't have your life's vision, pray to God for it. Present yourself to him so that you can assist him with his task. Your vision is linked to your life's purpose. You should also use this activity to discover your life's mission, as your work and purpose are linked to your passions and skills. Make a list of your hobbies and skills and talents that come naturally to you on a sheet of paper. Your presents will show up now and then. All of your abilities will be tied to your interests. For instance, I enjoy writing and speaking. It comes naturally to me; I never had to learn it. I had a strong desire to help people and was blessed with the ability to do so. It was never taught to me. I have the ability to heal by praying. This workout will be really beneficial to you. Don't do anything in your life to satisfy other people because you'll be doing God a big disservice. Make the most of your talents by serving others and enriching your soul.
  • Meditate – Connecting with yourself and God requires the discipline of meditation. A spiritual instructor can teach you how to meditate. Meditation helps you break free from your karmic cycle and feeds your spirit.
  • Work with a spiritual mentor or instructor – You'll need someone to lead you on your spiritual path. It is stated that the instructor arrives when the learner is ready. This is something I can attest to. I didn't have to look for my spiritual gurus or mentors; they all showed up at the proper time in my life. All I did was pray to God for guidance and assistance.
  • Operate on the frequency of love and appreciation – Love and gratitude are the frequency of God, and if you desire to connect with God, you must operate on that frequency. Happiness, tranquility, and abundance will manifest in your life if you love others, are kind to them, and serve them.
  • Stay faithful to yourself and God by remaining devoted to your life vision. It will not be an easy journey. Everything in my life broke apart, and I faced more obstacles and sorrow than I could bear, yet I did not give up. God has rewarded and benefited me after each major difficulty so that I can be a blessing to others.

People will try to derail you all the time since they are most of the time confused and on autopilot. They try to force their constraints on you and dull your lights. So don't listen to what they have to say.

Work solely to serve our Holy Father and to consider his thoughts. And he thinks you're incredible. Always keep in mind that “you are a Masterpiece as a component of the Master.”

  • Examine your spiritual foundation. You are merely asking yourself questions about who you are and what you mean when you explore your spiritual essence.

What are the five stages of spiritual awakening?

The hero's journey, an evolutionary process of growth and transformation woven into all great myths and stories, was outlined by renowned mythologist Joseph Campbell: “A genuinely heroic shift of awareness occurs when we stop worrying about ourselves and our own self-preservation.”

The primary pushing off point for any hero's quest is known as the call to adventure. The call to adventure is a break from regular life, a signal that comes from deep inside, grabs your attention, and drives you in a new direction. The spark that sets off a spiritual awakening is a call to adventure. Every life has a moment that, if grasped, will change it forever. The call to adventure is a reawakening experience, a shift in perspective that forces you to reconsider your perspective on life. A travel to a strange location, the loss of innocence, an illness, a challenge, the death of a close friend, a near-death experience, or the loss of a job are all examples of spiritual experiences. Regardless of the specifics, the experience alters your perspective and causes you to see the world through fresh eyes. You've been given the task of living an ordinary life in an extraordinary way.

At this critical juncture, Joseph Campbell advises that you must choose whether or not to accept the call to adventure. In truth, though, ignoring the call isn't an option because your soul is inviting you to change on a deeper level. If you ignore the call, the opportunity will recycle itself like a skip on a record, patiently waiting for you to embrace the call to a new existence, thanks to your unique karmic influences. Furthermore, there is no going back once a transforming and deeply waking incident has occurred. Your eyes have been opened, and no matter how much you try to reject it, you can't turn away from the image of a greater reality calling to you.

You enter a broader universe once you've answered the call to adventure. You take an active role in your spiritual development and advancement. As you begin to manage your life toward chances that enhance your knowledge, responsibility becomes the operative word. Everything feels the same and weirdly different at the same time, thanks to a tiny alteration in perspective.

How do I strengthen myself spiritually?

Religion brings spirituality to some people, but it does not bring spirituality to others. There is no one-size-fits-all approach to spiritual well-being. Here are a few ideas to get you started if you're not sure where to start.

According to a Gallup poll, 43% of Americans claim to be members of a church or other religious organization. These houses of worship provide a variety of opportunities for those living with mental illnesses to connect with others in their communities.

Reconnect with someone or an organization that shares your ideas and thoughts, whether online, over the phone, or in person. Find ways to connect with like-minded people in your religion community who can support and encourage you by reaching out to a pastor or spiritual leader.

“Many people's support mechanisms were taken away from them during the pandemic—church, volunteering, support groups,” Wester added. “It was especially difficult for individuals who were already dealing with mental health concerns.” I advise people to reconnect with their religion group as soon as they are physically secure to do so.”

It's fine if you don't have a faith community. Finding a cause that resonates to you and giving back is another way to feel connected to your spirituality and faith. Working in a food pantry, becoming a mentor or tutor, or fostering an animal are all options. As a result, your community will develop and you will be able to meet individuals who share your interests. It will offer you a sense of purpose and thankfulness to serve others.

Because it takes so little time, meditation is one of the easiest disciplines to keep. “Some people believe you must sit and be silent, but this is not the case,” Wester explained. “You can walk while meditating, paying attention to the sensations of your feet on the ground and the intricacies of your surroundings. Simply slowing down your body can help you calm down your mind.”

Even five minutes of meditation can help you reduce stress, despair, and worry while also increasing your mindfulness. There are numerous fantastic guided meditation applications, such as Calm or Balance, if you need help.

Writing can help you process your emotions, raise your awareness, and provide a nonjudgmental space for you to express your feelings in the present. Start a daily thankfulness notebook with prompts or write down your anxieties and fears.

The Definition of the Human Person

Victoria led guests through a synthesis of Catholic teachings on the human person, beginning with an introduction to anthropology anchored on Scripture and Church Tradition. “Then God said: Let us make human beings in our image, after our likeness,” says Genesis 1:26. Man is created “Imago Dei,” in the image and likeness of God. The fact that we were made in the image and likeness of God, who is a communion of people in the Holy Trinity, is the foundation of our fundamental dignity as human beings. We are earthy creatures (i.e., we have a physical body) with a spiritual nature, implying that we were created for something more than this life. Indeed, we were created for someone greater than this life, God himself. We were made to have relationships with God and our fellow humans.

Dynamism of Holiness

In light of this anthropology, Victoria described how attaining divine beatitude, or eternal existence with God in paradise, fulfills our dignity as human beings. We are on a dynamic, though gradual, path toward relationship with God as we go through life. Victoria described how the people of the Old Testament, as well as many figures from the Gospels, experienced the journey to God in stages, based on the Scriptures. God gradually exposes himself to the people of Israel throughout redemption history, and finally fully in the Incarnation of his Son, Jesus Christ. God exposes himself to us in prayer and in our response to his grace using the same approach. Our journey to holiness is a long one, made possible solely by God's grace.

Spiritual Growth and Progression

The purgative stage, the illuminative stage, and the unitive stage are the three stages of development that make up this steady expansion. While not entirely linear, these stages tend to reflect the stages of human development: childhood, adolescence, and adulthood. In the purgative stage, a person goes through his or her initial conversion and reacts to grace by turning away from sin and pursuing virtue. A condition of remembrance is included in the illuminative stage. In fact, “recollection,” or “continuous attention of the mind and emotions of the heart to thoughts and sentiments that elevate the soul to God,” is “the primary virtue of this state.” At this point, one begins to adopt Jesus Christ's thoughts and heart. Finally, the unitive stage is characterized by a person's experience of oneness with God through love, as well as the real experience and exercise of that love. Here, prayer takes on a more meditative tone, while virtue takes on a more mature, even heroic quality. St. Maximilian Kolbe, who gave his life for another prisoner during the Holocaust, is an example of this stage. He did so with heroism, courage, and peace, as well as humility and humility, demonstrating a high level of holiness and spiritual development.

The Role and Application of Spiritual Direction

A spiritual director can be beneficial and perhaps necessary at each of these levels to support one's spiritual progress. A director can be a source of inspiration in the purgative stage, encouraging the directee to take active steps away from sin and toward virtue. A director can assist you in seeing and identifying God's hand in your life during the illuminative period. Finally, at the unitive stage, the director can assist the directee in identifying growth nuances and staying on track.

Spiritual direction is an invaluable gift in the growth of one's spiritual life. If you or someone you know is interested in becoming a spiritual director, the Spiritual Direction Certificate Program provides a combination of theological and human sciences as they apply to spiritual direction, as well as acquiring the art and skills of human interactions and supervision. Six online seminars, two four-day onsite residencies, and a practicum are included in the curriculum.

What comes after spiritual awakening?

After a spiritual awakening, the good life is to remember to turn inward for answers and, more importantly, the pure substance that makes life worth living. It is not how much we do in the world after a spiritual awakening that matters, but how much love can do within us. We are called to be a loving anchor.
