When I find myself caught up in the story that life is difficult, I've discovered that the greatest thing I can do is give myself permission to put the story on pause and focus on my deep, deliberate breathing. So, what are some things you may do to increase your spiritual well-being? It's best to experiment with several ways to see what works best for you. Spiritual wellbeing can be reached in a variety of ways, both physically and intellectually, because it involves one's values, beliefs, and purpose.

1. Examine your spiritual foundation. You are merely asking yourself questions about who you are and what you mean when you explore your spiritual essence. WE ARE EASILY IRRITABLE

Have you ever had a day that was both good and bad? This is the kind of day when someone peering in would say, “You've got it made.” A good-bad day is one in which everything is going well but you aren't feeling very happy. You are unsatisfied with your life. This isn't the first time I've had a day like this.

When we don't make time to pray, we find that minor irritations become much more significant.

Things that used to irritate us to no end now irritate us to no end.

The cluttered house that we used to enjoy cleaning is now seen with annoyance and anger. It is unavoidable.

WE ARE WEAK AGAINST TEMPTATIONS

There's a television show about it. I was glued to it the entire time. The plot drew me in and made my heart race. The main character was powerful, astute, and dressed in the most trendy attire. Everyone knew who to call when they needed anything ‘managed.' Do you know what show I'm referring to?

After numerous seasons of viewing the show, I began to feel something in my heart each time I saw it.

When the show's morals and direction dug farther and deeper into circumstances that went against what I thought and the type of person I wanted to be, I began to wonder if it was actually a decent show to watch.

As a result, I quit watching it entirely.

It didn't fit with my concept of myself as a God's kid any longer.

What I've discovered is that if I haven't prayed in a while, or if I get too wrapped up in myself and don't take the time to sit and listen to God's voice, I start to wonder what happened to that character.

“Oh, just watch it, it's not that horrible,” you might think.

Isn't it just a show?”

That was my cue to examine how I spend my time and whether I am being completely honest with myself. It's time to resume my prayer regimen and reconnect with the Holy Spirit in order to remain strong in the face of temptation.

CRITICISM AND REJECTION HIT US HARD

I have a difficult time accepting criticism. It's been a very trying period. I quickly become defensive and make excuses for whatever it is that has caused me to be chastised. It is draining.

Slowly, I'm discovering that when we put God at the center of our lives and rely exclusively on His favor, rejection and criticism lose their power over us.

Others' opinions have no bearing on our identity in Christ.

We are still cherished.

In His sight, we are still valuable.

We are still King's daughters.

NEGATIVE THOUGHTS ARE CONSTANTLY AROUND US

We are spiritually weak when we are separated from God. As a result, we are more vulnerable to the inundation of negative thoughts. I'm worried that I'm not a good enough mother, wife, friend, coworker, or sister. Because we are separated from God, we are unable to see our entire selves. We only see a little portion of ourselves, and that portion is never good enough.

When we are not centered on the Spirit for protection, we are frequently surrounded by sensations of fear and anxiety.

It's all too easy to fall in to negative ideas, but spending time with God creates a barrier that protects us from thoughts that threaten to steal our joy and leave us feeling discouraged and powerless.

WE CANNOT MOVE ON FROM THE PAST

We frequently cling to thoughts, feelings, and experiences long after they have served their function. Long after whatever lessons we could have gleaned from them have passed their sell-by date. Despite this, we cling to negative memories and unresolved hurts that sap our happiness.

When we are separated from God, it is difficult to let go of the past and allow God's abundant blessings to enter our lives.

WE DON'T MAKE TIME TO REST AND BE STILL

There is so much clamoring for our attention these days. If we are not careful, we will find ourselves being pushed in a million different directions and attempting to do everything at the same time. We rely exclusively on ourselves to make things happen since we don't have God to lean on and faith that He will provide for all of our needs.

As a result, we find ourselves grinding, agitated, and falling behind. In the same way, when we're in this frame of mind, we see other people's success as a threat to our own. We live in a world of scarcity and limitation, rather than celebrating God's generosity and trusting that He can give you whatever blessings are in His Will to provide.

WE ARE HARD ON OURSELVES

Condemnation and guilt. Unforgiveness. Uncertainty. Those are the feelings of a lady who is separated from Her God at times. I'm sure you've felt these emotions. I've done the same.

The difference between a woman who relies on God and one who does not is that the woman who relies on Him knows that no matter what happens or what she does, she can always count on His love.

When she asks for forgiveness, she will be forgiven.

She can be confident in the fact that God has a purpose for her life.

How can I be awakened spiritually?

The spiritual journey—and the resulting “spiritual awakening” we seek—always appears to take place in some exotic location or following a spectacular incident.

Perhaps you believe you need to travel to Peru to drink ayahuasca or leave your spouse to get the spiritual awakening you seek?

From the comfort of your own home, you may connect with your spirituality and awaken to the lessons that are meant for you over and over again throughout your life.

Organized Religion

Spirituality isn't like medicine in that you can't just “take one dose of prayer every day.” If you're inclined to organized religion, however, more active participation can help.

  • Become a member of a religious organization. According to study, those who regularly attend a house of worship are happier and healthier. This is most likely due to the social relationship. It could also be because religious organizations promote healthy living choices such as quitting smoking and drinking less.
  • Pray or meditate on your concept of God. You can use a prayer book to worship at a specified time each day. When you're in need of comfort, you can also pray from your heart. It may be very beneficial to your mood to say a prayer of appreciation.
  • Discuss your spiritual beliefs with those who hold similar beliefs and learn from each other.
